What we are all about

It’s always been a bit of a joke about men. That even if they are lost they won’t stop and ask for Directions. As funny as the joke may be there is a serious side to it.

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 40. Why is that? Because men don’t ask for help when they need it.

They suffer in silence. They feel like they should be able to cope with anything and that feeling stressed/depressed or anxious is a sign of weakness.

We want this to end. We want men to feel able to ask for help but not only that we want them to know where to go to get help when they need it. We want to provide a place for men to turn and ask for help. We want to support men who are :-

  • Suffering from anxiety/depression or just not feeling themselves
  • Victims of domestic abuse
  • Suffering from Physical/sexual/emotional abuse
  • Feeling isolated
  • Problems with housing, debt, employment, relationships, drug or alcohol use
  • Or just feeling a bit lost with no sense of purpose

Directions For Men provides groups and activities where men can meet other men talk about issues affecting them and receive support, a listening ear and some guidance.

We will be meeting weekly from the 26th of April 2024 at Farnworth Library :-)

A recreational lesson for participants with additional needs.  The ability to be able to climb onto the trampoline and move around a trampoline is essential.  The lessons are coach led with the ratio of 1 coach to 4 bouncers.  The bouncers have access to a sensory tent and sensory toys whilst awaiting their turn.

The session is 1.5 hours but not all the session will be on the trampoline.  Part of the time includes a cool down at the end to help return the body to a resting state.

We believe that this activity is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for individuals with additional needs. However, we would recommend contacting the provider before attending, just to confirm they can accommodate your specific requirements.

The Job Club aims to support people who are looking for work whether that is voluntary or paid employment.  As part of the support we run an 8 week course 3 times per year which aims to help people gain confidence and also helps with wellbeing in that they feel useful.  Gaining some form of employment can help with mental health as it fills time during the day and gets the individual to meet new people.  The course is designed to encourage and support in all areas.

We believe that this activity is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for individuals with additional needs. However, we would recommend contacting the provider before attending, just to confirm they can accommodate your specific requirements.

We support young adults with neurodiverse needs and disabilities aged between 18 and 40 to build upon their independence skills and life skills whilst having lots of fun along the way.

We provide an environment where they feel valued and listened to and where they feel safe to embrace the opportunities around them. We encourage community interaction, developing friendships and improving communication skills. Our working days run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30am til 4pm. We charge £71.50 per day, although there is often funding available for young adults to attend Sapphire.

We work with social care, other professionals and the young adults' families in order to provide a service which keeps the young adults at the heart of what we do.  We would encourage you to look at our website or social media pages. Then if you are interested please call to arrange a visit.   www.sapphriepartnership.com FACEBOOK - Sapphire Bolton INSTAGRAM - Sapphire_Partnership TIKTOK - Sapphire Partnership
