While You Wait
While You Wait programme is to offer support to the 20,000 patients who are waiting for an operation in Bolton. Many people are living with discomfort or pain and will have no indication when they may get an admission date
However, this is complicated because while people are waiting their health and wellbeing is worsening, for some this is loss of mobility, all of which has been exacerbated by the restrictions during the pandemic. This means that many people do not pass a pre op assessment and are asked to make some health improvements before they can get a surgery date. The main reasons are hypertension, uncontrolled or undetected diabetes, high alcohol levels, obesity and smokers. The aim of the WYW programme is to offer support to the 20,000 patients who are waiting for an operation in Bolton.
