This Bolton 'Spring' Community Walk on Thursday 2nd May is aimed at over 55s but all ages are welcome. It is a fairly gentle walk of approx 3 miles in length taking approx one a three quarter hours with plenty of stops along the way. It sticks to good footpaths but they can get very muddy and puddly in parts so strong walking shoes or wellies are recommended.
Please meet on the Entwistle Reservoir Dam, Batridge Rd Car Park, Green’s Arms Rd, Turton from 1-45pm for a 2pm prompt start. Please don't follow the postcode on your SAT NAV or it may take you to the Strawberry Duck Restaurant on the opposite side of the dam. There are 2 free car parks on the Green's Arms Rd side of the dam including Batridge Rd Car Park.
Light refreshments will be provided but unfotunately there are no toilets at the start, end or during this walk.

This is a 12 Step Christian Recovery Group open to anyone suffering from hurts, habits and hangups.
We meet at 7:30pm on a Thursday evening (brews available from 7:10pm). Everyone gathers together for combined teaching on a rolling 6 month programme. After the teaching (normally with a couple of worship songs as well), men and women break out into their respective groups and talk.
We always say that the hardest of all the twelve steps is for someone to actually take the step of walking through the door, but be assured that there will be a warm welcome awaiting you and you'll be in good company.
This isn't just for those recovering from alcohol and drug addictions, but it covers those recovering from any hurts, habits and hangups - which is pretty much all of us.
On your first visit, after the common teaching, you will need to go through an induction with one of the leaders covering the key elements such as the need for confidentiality about what is discussed in the groups.
Let us know you're coming so we can look out for you.

I lead voluntary sessions for Age UK Bolton for the over 50s (since 2011) in 'Chair Based Exercise' and adding standing 'Strength and Balance' Exercise (Jan18). I have also had training in Dancing with Dementia; and Exercise Leadership in Oomph training (Nov22); and more recent Dance Skills (Oct23) and Exercise and Mental Health (Nov23). I always try to research and maintain current knowledge.
I keep the sessions light hearted, and try to make each sessions fun and unique. Everyone is welcome so just come along. Some people have just come along to sit and watch, but their feet soon start tapping along with some of the music.
I am old fashion and work from CDs, so anyone can bring their favourite CDs and we can do different movements to them.
The sessions include: warm-up, mobility, pulse raisers, stretches, strengthening, cool-down, and anything else I can mix-in, and sometimes we sing as well. So as well as keeping fit; making new friends; chats and socialising there is lots of laughter and all for FREE!!!
Day: Tuesday's. Time: 11am-12noon. (Library is open from 10am. I am set-up by 10.30am for any questions.)
Venue: Little Lever Library & Health Centre, 36 Market Street, Little Lever, Bolton BL3 1HH.

Bolton Swimming Club provides a supportive family environment. We value and encourage our swimmers to help them fulfil their personal potential.
Bolton Swimming Club was first formed in 1872. It is one of the oldest swimming clubs in England. Our aim is to teach and coach swimming in a safe, friendly, and family-orientated environment.
We are a competitive club, with a club team in several leagues as well as entering individual swimmers in local age group competitions.
Our more advanced swimmers compete at Lancashire County and Northwest Regional level and in some cases at English National and British Championship level.
We monitor every swimmer’s progress carefully and, when appropriate, we encourage individuals to enhance their training by also joining one of the elite level squads in the area. We strive to make the journey of competitive swimming enjoyable and healthy, especially by developing lifelong skills and friendships. Free trials available.

Children also work on their balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination. The class ratio is 9:1 and the coach will split the children into 3 groups to work on skills related to the apparatus. This allows the children to maximise their time on practising their skills and not waiting for turns. Their role in Florentine history, links to the Papacy, intrigues, marriages and ‘other’ women, patronage of Renaissance artists, (which might give a little historical context to the new group on renaissance art) and their collapse as a bank.

The Job Club aims to support people who are looking for work whether that is voluntary or paid employment. As part of the support we run an 8 week course 3 times per year which aims to help people gain confidence and also helps with wellbeing in that they feel useful. Gaining some form of employment can help with mental health as it fills time during the day and gets the individual to meet new people. The course is designed to encourage and support in all areas.

Ju Jitsu was first developed to combat the Samuri of Japan nearly 1000 years ago. Using grappling techniques, students of Ju Jitsu are taught to use their opponent’s energy against them in the form of pins, joint locks and throws. In this way, it is not considered to be a violent sport, but rather, is based on values of respect, trust and confidence. Who are Enso? Our talented team of instructors have taught thousands of children in hundreds of schools and venues across the North West for over 25 years. Our mission is to encourage our students, whatever their age or ability, to gain confidence, empowering them to push themselves further than they ever imagined. Using fun and teamwork to engage students, giving them the physical skills and mental toughness to take on any challenge they set themselves. All of our instructors are fully insured, have an enhanced DBS check and are trained in Ofsted compliant paediatric first aid. They are also trained in the safeguarding of children and adults.

We support young adults with additional needs and disabilities aged between 18 and 40 to build upon their independence skills and life skills whilst having lots of fun along the way. We provide an environment where they feel valued and listened to and where they feel safe to embrace the opportunities around them. We encourage community interaction, developing friendships and improving communication skills. Our working days run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30am til 4pm. We charge £71.50 per day, although there is often funding available for young adults to attend Sapphire. We work with social care, other professionals and the young adults' families in order to provide a service which keeps the young adults at the heart of what we do. We would encourage you to look at our website or social media pages. The aim of meditation is to bring inner peace within ourselves and the world in a positive and spiritual way. The world is not a peaceful place and within every soul, there is some form of stress or stress and tension. It is essential to create positive and peaceful thoughts to bring peace of mind. The best way to begin the healing process is to alter our thoughts from being negative to positive. The positive discovery about meditation is that we are focusing on our self and becoming free of negativity.

Suffering with your mental health? A parent or carer of a child age 0 – 2 Years? Pregnant and concerned about your metal well-being? Feeling lonely and anxious? Small Steps is a Bolton Together project to help reach adults who are perinatal and have children up to the age of 2. These new groups are where carers can discuss their mental wellbeing in a safe and secure setting. A setting where personal experiences and lived challenges can be shared without judgement. This peer to peer support group will explore the challenges that looking after a baby can cause in our mental health, parenthood can be a very anxious and lonely place, but it doesn’t have to be. The group aims to help build friendships, feel engaged with adults and to help with better care of your mental health and your baby. This group is predominately for adults, but we are aware what looking after a baby means… no time alone. Therefore children are welcome. If you want to be part of this developing group, please contact Jayne.oakley@mhist.co.uk or call MhIST on 01204 527200

If you want to be part of this developing group, please contact Jayne.oakley@mhist.co.uk or call MhIST on 01204 527200.

They also occassionally head out for day trips. We have a wonderful team of volunteers to chat to people, help out and make everyone feel welcome!
